ACTION
Accessible Medical Exam Tables
Citizens Together Advocacy Group (CTAG) members are concerned about the lack of accessible medical exam tables at doctor offices in and around Nash County. In a doctor’s office, community members only get examined in their wheelchair and feel they do not receive a thorough medical examination as other patients. CTAG wants to know if this is an issue in your community and successful strategies. If you would like to become involved, please e-mail dalepowell@earthlink.net .
Call for Stories about Workplace Discrimination
ADA Restoration Act Work Group was given feedback from members of Congress that they need human-interest stories of workplace discrimination, which have not gone to court. Pamela Ethel Armstrong Foundation to Support Programs for Adults with Disabilities
The deadline to apply for a grant request is March 15, 2007 and September 15, 2007. The Ethel Louise Armstrong Foundation awards funds in the areas of arts, advocacy and education to nonprofit organizations that support adults with disabilities. The grant request must be for a program in the area of arts, advocacy, or education and must serve adults over the age of 22 with disabilities. Planet Dog Grants
The Planet Dog Foundation, an eco-friendly dog product company is accepting proposals for its grant program. The foundation is the Charitable giving arm of The Planet Dog, whose mission is to promote and celebrate programs which serve and support all working dogs. PDF will award grants in the amounts up to $5,000 each to applicants who work toward their new mission.

Access to Transit for ALL
Young leaders with disabilities (ages 16-28) with an interest in improving access to public transit are invited to apply to attend the National Youth Transit Talk, to be held July 27-28, 2007 in Washington, DC. Participants will discover how to work within their communities, find out how to identify and resolve local transit issues, learn transit rules under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), share ideas for improving access to public transit, and network with past and future leaders from across the country. Application deadline: March 1, 2007.
